10 Most Beautiful Open World Video Games You Must Play

5. The Witcher 3

Horizon Zero Dawn
CD Projekt RED

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was developed and published by Polish company CD Projekt Red in 2015 and still stands as one of the finest examples of an RPG open world game ever.

Based off of the series of Witcher fantasy novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, having this level of material to go off can sometimes raise the bar in terms of expectations with fans of the books having each having their own interpretations and ideas as to what they think the land of Geralt of Rivia and co. looks like.

However, there isn't a player in the world that is able to disagree with the fact that The Witcher 3's world is still one of the most breathtaking and jaw-dropping ever created.

Witcher 3's huge mountain ranges, tranquil wilderness, open skies and lush forests serve as a stunning set of locations and compliment the fantastical moments of magic and monsters perfectly.

Creating this world took over three and a half years to develop, and CD Projekt Red's REDengine 3 was used to ensure everything was as immersive as possible.
