10 Most Beautiful Open World Video Games You Must Play
3. Red Dead Redemption 2
Very few games experience the level of hype pre-release that Red Dead Redemption 2 experienced back in October 2018, but even fewer games out there actually manage to live up and smash that expectancy quite like Rockstar's Wild West epic did.
The prequel to Rockstar's first foray into the world of John Marston and co., Red Dead 2 is set in a fictionalised version of the southern United States on the cusp of the 20th century. There are a lot of potential pitfalls for a game that has the Wild West as its open world, with sparse settlements and rolling landscapes with little to do threatening to bore.
But Red Dead 2 is anything but boring, and its open world is a huge part of why. Marauding around the Wild West on the back of a trusty steed is absolutely thrilling, and the way in which the game's lighting, visuals and soundtrack all marry up throughout its various time and weather cycles just help sell the charm of this world even more.
Not only is Red Dead 2 arguably the best Rockstar game ever released, it's also one of its most beautiful too.
