10 Most Beloved Supporting Characters In The Legend Of Zelda

3. Tingle

Midna Twilight Princess
Nintendo

To some, Tingle is a very irritating character - and it's easy to see why. In his mid thirties dressed in a homemade spandex style suit and chirping his own magic incantation, the bizarre cartographer was first introduced in Majora's Mask and has appeared in a total of nine core Zelda titles since 2000.

Why is he so beloved? Well, the creepy little chap is so popular in Asia that he's had three video games all of his own, and was very nearly part of a horror themed video game prior to its cancellation in at some time between 2010 and 2012. No one will ever know what Vanpool had planned but Tingle is pretty scary in the core series, never mind a dedicated horror game.

Outside of Asia, Tingle is widely seen as a bit creepy and his role in The Wind Waker was tiresome, frustrating and a bit of a gimmicky tie in to sell some GameBoy Advance consoles/cables. But his usefulness outweighs the annoyance - especially in randomiser runs of Majora's Mask, as his wares can be included in the item shuffle meaning he could hold anything from his usual maps to Light Arrows.

Whilst we haven't seen Tingle himself since The Minish Cap, the regular references and Tingle themed Easter Eggs means he isn't going away any time soon and it's entirely possible he might pop up in the forthcoming sequel to Breath of the Wild.
