10 Most Controversial Video Game Marketing Campaigns Of All Time

6. Wolfenstein 2's Various 'Punch A Nazi' Trailers

Although the game is very much a fictional view of America had they lost to the Nazi regime during World War II, Wolfenstein 2's marketing campaign made great use of images and phrases that tapped into the current political climate.

Taking a stance and riffing on political slogans like "Make America Nazi-Free Again" and proudly proclaiming "If You Are A Nazi, GTFO", the title's advertisements proudly celebrate the gloriously overblown and downright gore-happy Nazi-slaughter of the campaign.

How an anti-Nazi stance in 2017 could ever be seen as controversial should be saved for an entirely different discussion, but there's no denying that Wolfenstein's marketing campaign managed to spark plenty of debate in the run up to release.
