10 Most Devastating Video Game Deaths Since 2000

1. Sarah - The Last Of Us

You'll rarely find a more instantly-affecting and emotionally devastating image than a parent forced to cradle their dying child - even that sentence is a very evocative one to read - but in going near this subject matter it's imperative it be treated with the utmost respect. Luckily when scriptwriters Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are on hand, you'll never get anything less than an exemplary showing, and as you first play the part of daughter Sarah and then father Joel during the breakout of the Cordycep virus in Boston, when they're both fired upon only for the latter to barely survive, a phenomenal performance from Troy Baker and Hana Hayes writes this performance into the legendary pages. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DidjobKweCs#t=19 Behind the scenes both Baker and Druckmann noted that although the former's first performance was serviceable enough, he was actually over-acting it to some degree. Instead it was a reshoot of the whole scene that really let the most subtle facial inflections and movements bring out the humanity in Joel, elevating the entire scene far and above what we thought possible through video games, if not all motion captured performances so far.
