Chances are the last time you cried over a stack of hulking meat was if you dropped a hangover-slaying kebab after a night out, but Gears of War actually managed to make you get completely invested in the plights of Delta squad across all three campaigns. Spending hours and hours in the company of Marcus Fenix and co. made their quips and humour incredibly endearing, although it wasn't until the idea of one of them not making through to the end credits that it all sank in just how much you cared.
