10 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2018

6. Vampyr

Vampyr game
Dontnod

One of the most interesting projects set to drop in 2018, Dontnod's Vampyr is a far cry from their last game, Life is Strange. Maintaining the ethos of making sure the player is in charge of their own story, this new project was a far more conventional RPG, dropping players into a recreation of London circa 1918 as a recently-turned vampire who happens to also be a doctor.

The opening in particular promises so much, as the player awakens in a mass grave with an insatiable bloodlust. The game never really lives up to the potential of its introductory hour though, with its mission variety and combat in particular making for an experience that's repetitive and uninspired, at least when it comes to gameplay.

There is a lot to like if you dig deep enough though, from its intoxicating world to a good chunk of its characters, but it's hard to escape the feeling that, in the end, none of its disparate features really coalesce.
