10 Most Disastrous Releases Of The Current Generation

2. Concord

Concord Game
Sony

Fortnight, goodnight.

No, that's not a goodbye to Epic's live-service juggernaut (a.k.a. the reason so many games these days are sent out to die). Instead, it's a pithy summary of Concord's spectacular fall from... well, it never really had time to achieve a state of grace. Instead, Concord blazed into the world in a firestorm of poor reviews and abysmal sales and extinguished itself only two weeks after launch.

Even by the mayfly standards of live-service games, Concord's spectacularly brief shelf-life stands out. Not least because of the amount of money Sony burned in this particular dumpster fire, with Concord reportedly losing anywhere from $200-400 million.

Concord was, and will forever be remembered as, one of the biggest financial disasters in gaming history, and should act as a lesson to every video game publisher to stop chasing the Holy Grail that is live-service gaming. For every studio that does an Indiana Jones and succeeds in their quest, there are dozens more whose efforts result in them crumbling into dust.

Such was the fate of the developers behind the final entrant on this list...
