The Context: Spiderlike and overgrown in appearance with an amniotic sac implying the final stages of pregnancy, Alex fights this creature in the climax of the game. Why Its Disturbing: The killing blow where you must press a button to slice your knife downward and free Joshua is so graphically violent and distressing that the game was initially banned in some countries before censored versions were released. Additionally, it's just a truly demented plot point. Silent Hill is known for designing deeply racy creatures that bear symbolic representation of the narrative, and this is one of the franchises crowning achievements.
