10 Most Epic Set-Pieces In Call Of Duty History

5. Aftermath - Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

The Modern Warfare sub-series of games became well known for the inclusion of "the controversial bit". But, back in 2007, we didn't expect to have to deal with the loss of a player character in such a way.

I know I didn't.

After the adrenaline-fuelled "Shock and Awe" mission where we flew in to Al-Asad's city, armed to the teeth, kicking ass, and even saving a downed helicopter pilot, you're left feeling pretty good about yourself. Then just as you feel safe, you're literally - and figuratively - brought crashing down to earth.

In the next section, Paul Jackson is the sole survivor of the crash. All we can do is players is crawl around, hoping to find a way out, but slowly and surely, Jackson expires on screen in the dirt. It's harrowing, and the first time I played this I couldn't believe what I'd just seen.
