10 Most INFURIATING Legend Of Zelda Dungeons

6. Level 9

Wind Waker Earth Temple

This is the final level of the first Zelda game, so a difficulty spike can be expected. You’re fighting your way through a sequence of chambers that map out a big, spooky skull - it’s not for the faint of heart. Indeed for the finale of the very first game in the franchise, Level 9 does an awful lot right.

It’s atmospheric, puts your skills to the test, and boasts an iconic boss battle. Even though the series has come a long way since, that very first Ganon fight is the stuff of video gaming legend.

It’s here that the dungeon can cross the line from tricky to totally unfair, though. In order to defeat the demon king, you need the silver arrows. It’s entirely possible, however, to stumble into the battle arena without picking up the firepower needed to do the job.

There’s nothing to tell you that this is what you need, so many a player has bravely fought through the dreadful dungeon only to find themselves entirely ill equipped for the final battle. It’s the kind of flaw they’d iron out later on, but it can be enough to ruin an otherwise great finale.
