10 Most INFURIATING Legend Of Zelda Dungeons

7. Dark Palace

A Link Between Worlds was one of the nicest surprises in recent Zelda games, a beautifully designed 3DS adventure harking back to classic SNES titles. It looks fantastic, boasts a lot of variety, and mostly plays great. Mostly.

The Dark Palace is pretty much the one exception. The level isn’t bad, by any means. It’s handsomely designed, populated by a variety of decent enemies, and boasts a high quality boss fight. The issue?

The clue’s in the name: the Dark Palace is very dark. Zelda games have used stretches of darkness before to heighten tension, but this dungeon is based entirely around Link not being able to see anything. It’s fun for a bit, but navigating the place becomes a chore pretty quickly.

You can use the glimmer of your sword to light your way a little, but this only works until you need to put it away and use another item, which is frequently. You can see what they were going for here, but it’s none too fun a lot of the time. If they wanted to accurately portray the frustration of stumbling around in the dark, job done.
