10 Most INFURIATING Legend Of Zelda Dungeons
4. Earth Temple
The ideas behind Wind Waker’s Earth Temple are pretty cool. You’re able to command another character, Medli, a Rito who will in due course become the Sage of Earth. Only by utilising the skills of the two characters can you traverse the dungeon, using Medli’s wings to glide across gaps and her harp to solve puzzles.
This is where the dungeon becomes irritating. It’s an especially repetitive level, with the majority of the tasks revolving around Link reflecting light with his mirror shield, Medli doing the same with her harp. The puzzles aren’t tricky or demanding; they’re just a bit of a grind. They tend to involve slowly pushing blocks, slowly turning characters until the light goes just where you want it. It’s not especially rewarding to complete these challenges, but the fiddliness of the process can make it seem like a greater undertaking than it really is.
What’s more, you’ll constantly be whipping out the wind waker in order to play the song that allows you to control Medli. There’s lots to like in the temple, but it feels like a handful of ideas padded out to fill space.
