10 Most Infuriatingly Awkward Video Game Levels Of All Time
7. Riddler Raceways - Batman: Arkham Knight
"Alright guys, new Batman game. What we got? And Bill, don't say 'Riddler Raceways' again..."
*cut to Arkham Knight launch day*
"God dammit, Bill"
I can't think of any other plausible explanation for why what amounts to a kart racing time trial made its way into Arkham Knight, because even after Rocksteady applied a liberal amount of spit n' polish, the final product was just utterly unwieldy. It's true the Batmobile itself was an ill-conceived extra designed to 'shake up' the otherwise stale 'Arkham formula', but by then, making us belt through underground racetracks with timing-based, physics-dependant 'obstacles' was just annoying.
How did Nigma build them? Where did he find the time and the resources? Why would Batman just go along with this, rather than find a way to mess with their electric systems?
Arkham Knight had myriad other problems with its overuse of the Joker and the Knight himself being a complete letdown, but to lock various trophies away behind these Raceways - ones that felt awkward in concept and execution? That was just too much.
