10 Most Insanely Elaborate Video Game Easter Eggs

4. Duck Racing - Shenmue II

Shenmue II allows players to race their own pet duck, because of course it does, though the steps for unlocking this ability are absurdly contrived in the most Shenmue fashion possible.

To unlock duck racing, you first need to collect one bronze and one silver medal. The bronze medal can be obtained one of several ways, such as giving a troubled waitress some money, winning a dice game, or simply finding it laying on the ground.

The silver medal, though, requires you to use the bronze medal to unlock an arcade, wherein you'll need to defeat two intensely challenging combatants. After doing so, you'll finally unlock duck races.

But getting a duck of your own? You need to try and catch leaves at the nearby temple, and only after catching four leaves in one go - which is super challenging - will you be able to catch the duck that also falls out of the tree.

You're now able to enter the duck into the races, and upon winning, you'll receive the gold medal...which doesn't actually serve any purpose at all.

This is clearly one of those "the journey is more important than the destination" things, right?
