10 Most Intense Moral Choices In Video Game History

10. Light Side Or Dark Side? (Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic)

EA Games

Just about every Star Wars game ever made has had to option for the player to choose between the light or dark side. In classic series fashion, each side of the force comes with their own unique powers and morals, but honestly, in older games there was rarely ever an actual reason to side with the light over the dark path, mostly because of the sweet force abilities the latter option often rewarded you with.

However, Bioware’s Knights of the Old Republic served as one of the first games in the series to actually put weight behind your decision to choose whether you wanted to be a Sith or a Jedi. Because of its RPG structure, the title imbued this decision with a sense of gravitas and story importance, and as a result it became one of the most defining parts of the whole title, as choosing either way could cost you allies, party members, and completely change the course of the story.

For one of the first times, Knights of the Old Republic gave Star Wars fans a reason to choose the light side over the dark. Who would have thought that it would have been story and characters that would finally trump being able to fire lightning from your fingertips?
