When you combine a violent and funny comic book like Kick-Ass with a futuristic fictional setting and place them both into a video game, Borderlands 2 is the result. Underneath the hilarious characters, the quirky art style, the killing, and the endless looting is some seriously dark yet hilarious stuff. What encapsulates Borderlands' signature dark yet hilarious tone is Tiny Tina and her side-quest, 'You Are Cordially Invited'. Watching Tiny Tina's blend of pyromania, obsession with explosives, and ADHD wrapped up in a teenagers body would've been hilarious by itself, but her side-mission cranks everything up to 11. The mission involves Tiny Tina having a, ahem, tea party with a tied up psycho in her workshop whilst the Vault Hunter acts as a bouncer to prevent any intruders from interfering. What unfolds is a seriously funny sequence, that toes the line between hilarious and tragic, in which Tiny Tina tortures the psycho whilst sprouting quips and singing twisted nursery rhymes before the subsequent reveal that the captured psycho killed her parents. It all ends in a glorious bang as Tiny Tina disintegrates the psycho and proclaims 'best tea party ever'. 'Best tea party ever?' Agreed on all accounts.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
