4. Ninja Gaiden II

No, I don't care how you completed this game and I'm a little girl blouse for getting crabby about how unbelievably hard it is. (Phrasing) But Christ this game is just way too difficult. Sure, I like a challenge and it's great to see a title that actually makes you work, but Ninja Gaiden II is unrelentingly, inexorably, constantly cruel. Giving us attack combos that are finger-blisteringly challenging, but essential, as normal attack are about as effective as a light breeze when confronting enemies. So you'll die and die and die and progress; and die and die until if you're like me get so frustrated with it then you do the manly thing, and quit. I think because the plot is so damn awful, it doesn't distract from how extraordinarily difficult it is, meaning, there isn't anything driving you through the waves of relentless enemies other than to say you've completed Ninja Gaiden II. Adding to that, the voice acting is about a decent as a homeless puppet show. Everything's too dark, everything's too dull and it hurts my feelings.
