Yes, the puzzles were exceedingly clever and it presented far better value-for-money than most likely expected, but there wasn't much more to it than its puzzles, with an obtuse narrative that ultimately didn't amount to much.
Should a game with so little of interest outside of its puzzles really have been in contention for Game of the Year awards? It was a compelling, often infuriating experience with some fantastic moments of realisation for the player, but didn't present nearly enough to earn so much praise from the gaming press in particular.
