10 Most Powerful Equipments In Magic: The Gathering
2. Godsend
Everyone seems to be overlooking this card, or simply underestimating its power, but it’s here as the second place card on this list to show you just how great it can be. Like Umezawa’s Jitte this equipment is legendary, so forget about stacking these up, as amazing as that would be.
As well as being a +3/+3 buff for a 3 cost card which costs 3 mana to equip – already making it a decent card from that alone – whenever the creature blocks or is blocked by a defending creature you can exile that creature. This means that even if the equipped creature dies in the combat, you can completely remove your opponent’s creature from the game.
This essentially locks your opponent down as they don’t want to risk attacking with the largest part of their board for fear that their best unit will be blocked and exiled. Furthermore, when blocked by two creatures, you can choose which one of them gets exiled – this is great for things with trample as more often than not your opponent will want to block with their least valuable card.
And finally, as if Godsend wasn’t powerful enough, when you exile a card with this ability it stops your opponent from playing cards with the same name. Therefore, in non-singleton decks, you can completely stop your opponent from playing a good portion of their deck after only a combat phase or two.
