10 Most Rewarding Evil Playthroughs In Gaming
9. LISA: The Painful
Austin Jorgensen's post-apocalyptic RPG follows a middle-aged man called Brad who ventures through the wastelands of Olathe to find his adopted daughter, Buddy.
At a glance, it's obvious the 2D sidescroller's style, comic relief, and battle system was heavily modelled on Earthbound. Even though Earthbound contained plenty of unsettling characters, the heroes were pure of heart.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Brad. Although playing nice is an option, LISA is dramatically easier if you don't remotely try to be a good person. When Brad has to pick between giving up a useless party member or lose all his items, ditching your teammate is logical. Other times, Brad must choose between losing his arms or dropping his party members. Even if Brad's companions are solid, trading his arms for their safety is a bit extreme.
Several playable characters, including the protagonist, are addicts who become stronger when exposed to the Joy drug. This mechanic doesn't just entice Brad to pick up junkies, but to feed their addiction so he can reap the benefits.
In a nutshell, breaking bad is the way to go, since being a saint will have Brad left without items, strong party members, or limbs.
