10 Most Ridiculous Things You Did For Gaming

4. Memorising Long Fight Combinations

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be good at a video game - even more is the naturally gifted players who always put up a good fight in localized FPS or FIFA Games. But, like revising and studying for school exams, sometimes reading, remembering and repeating is the only way to get a high score and for some gamers - their road to success involved taking it far too seriously.

We've all been there. Midway through Round 2 of a Tekken/Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat fight and someone pauses it to check the 25+ button combination that makes the move look fancy. Suddenly the Winner-Stays-On mini tournaments you played with your buddies become a revolving door of losers as that one player defeats everyone with that very specific move that spams everyone else.

Sour grapes and sore losers be damned - it was never about being unbeatable, but about the method in which we/you played the game.

Pausing a game and insisting your character remain motionless, so the other player can contort their fingers and complete a devastating button combination is a feeling we've all felt. Gaming doesn't feel fun anymore when playing as Sub-Zero is akin to playing a Beethoven symphony.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
