6. Wheatley - Portal 2

Roy Earle LA Noire
Valve

Is it fair to blame artificial intelligence, when it ultimately goes rogue and tries to destroy humanity? After all, we created it, and moulded it in our image, so surely the fault lies with us rather than the machines themselves.

Like all AI mishaps, Wheatley didn’t initially seem like a terrible idea. He was the polar opposite of glaDOS, a joyful and bouncy companion who briefly made Aperture seem like a less terrifying place to be.

That is, until he replaced glaDOS as the facility’s primary AI core, whereupon he went mad with his newfound power.

Nobody would suspect a machine with Stephen Merchant’s charming and slightly dorky West Country drawl to be evil, especially not to the extent that working with glaDOS would seem like a good idea.
