5. The Mythic Dawn - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006)

To anyone who has played even a single instalment of the Elder Scrolls, it should be more than obvious that the Daedra are bad news to the mortal realm. Then again, great power usually inspires both fear and admiration in equal measure, and there's always going to be a handful of people who think worshipping these rogue deities is a better option than cowering from them.

And in the case of The Mythic Dawn, this worship doesn't just entail a quick little prayer before bed. The cult make themselves known in Tamriel when they carry out the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, making them the primary antagonists of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

But their ultimate goal is to allow Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedric Prince to whom they swear fealty, to return to their reality and claim all of existence for himself. Given that all of the Daedra, not just Dagon, represent a potentially world-ending danger, it's nothing short of ludicrous to even turn a blind eye to these beings, let alone ally yourself with one.

As if a god would bother with us meagre mortals anyway.
