8. The Typing Of The Dead

The Typing of the Dead took all the best elements from the much loved House of the Dead arcade games and stuffed them into a completely unrelated educational by-the-numbers typing game. Replacing frantic light-gun action with typing, this modification of the popular House of the Dead series had players typing in the words that appeared on-screen in order to progress through the game and to kill whatever ghouls turned up to try to stop you dead in your tracks. For some reason though, typing words into a keyboard isn't as cathartic as lining up and placing head shots on eagerly shambling zombies. Unfortunately, while there were flairs of humour and some fun to be found in this odd educational exercise, The Typing of the Dead ultimately couldn't replace the creeping feeling of doubt and sourness that the House of the Dead franchise was beginning to be milked for all it was worth.
