10 Most Terrifying Areas In Non-Horror Games

2. The Shalebridge Cradle - Thief 3

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice
Ion Storm

When it comes to levels in otherwise horror-free games that suddenly pile on the fear factor, The Shalebridge Cradle is practically infamous for adding a dose of nightmare fuel to Thief 3.

Because where you are normally robbing from the notably human aristocracy, Shalebridge has you enter a former orphanage that has been repurposed into also being an insane asylum at the same time, which yes, is exactly as awful an idea as it sounds.

And instead of being guarded by your conventional human knights, the Cradle is protected by animated puppets, who move with all the disjointed menace of a successfully terrifying horror movie monster.

Worse yet, it becomes apparent that said puppets are actually made of the dead bodies of those who died in the asylum, brought back from the dead to hunt you down. It's not exactly the most friendly environment, in short.
