10 Most Underrated N64 Games Ever

4. Wetrix

Shadow man
Nintendo

Addictive, ingenious, and ever so satisfying, this water management-based puzzle game is long due a revival on today’s consoles. It can look a little daunting to watch someone play a game of Wetrix, but all you need to know is this: it’s Tetris, turned on its side, plus gallons and gallons of water.

In Wetrix, you’re given pieces of land and are tasked with maintaining a steady flow of water falling onto a square playing surface. You can build dams and reservoirs, increase or decrease the man made walls to affect the water’s flow, and as a last resort boil away excess liquid by way of fireballs. Your objective is to keep the water on the surface and away from the drain below, which is easier said than done when the balls begin to fall on the map. How and why this has become your job is anyone’s guess, but Wetrix gives you a major responsibility of looking after one of Earth’s most precious resources - it’s tense stuff.

Skilful players can make Wetrix look easy, but it’s a challenging game, and one which gets its hooks into you easily. With Tetris 99 doing numbers, the Switch would be a great destination for a reboot.
