7. Far Cry 5
It may not be the most imaginative game released this year, but Far Cry 5 is still a pretty great game in its own right.
Far Cry 5 got a lot of attention when it first released for how much it managed to get right and for being a lot of fun, but it was pretty soon forgotten as the year went on.
The lack of attention that Far Cry 5 has received since then makes it feel like it didn't even release during this year. In fact, Ubisoft even announced that a new Far Cry spin-off game would be coming early next year, which certainly doesn't help that feeling.
Far Cry 5 was actually one of the better games from the series in some time, following the disappointing Primal and uninventive Far Cry 4.
Perhaps the lack of attention is because of how early the game released in the year, but that didn't stop games like Monster Hunter World from getting the recognition they deserved.
