10 Most Value For Money RPGs In Gaming
7. Assassin's Creed Odyssey
It’s understandable why many fans of the original Assassin’s Creed games hold varying degrees of dislike for the soft reboot RPG trilogy introduced in 2017, as the gameplay and tone differs so significantly from the titles we all know and love. In spite of this, when considered outside of the context of the series, the recent games are actually really damn good.
Of the three, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey stands out not just as the biggest, but the overall best executed.
The map is absolutely vast, and the fact that real life historians and classicists were consulted to flesh out a realistic depiction of Ancient Greece (complete with historical facts and locations!) really pays off. The world is beautiful, and the main characters are well-acted and thoroughly fleshed out with excellent writing.
Odyssey also went further in on the RPG mechanics than its predecessor Origins, introducing dialogue options, ally recruitment, and potential romantic relationships - with certain choices throughout the story influencing the circumstances of your ending.
Better yet, two three-episode DLC stories, The Legacy Of The First Blade and Fate Of Atlantis, were added post release, with the latter being so large that you could feasibly double your playtime if you seek out all of the game's quests, locations and secrets.
