Running back Garrison Hearst's 1998 season was the best of his career, tallying up 1,570 rushing yards for the San Francisco 49ers and picking up seven touchdowns along the way, the first player to be included on one of two versions of the Madden 99 cover. He was featured on the cover before the start of his electrifying season, though during the Divisional Playoff round, he suffered a nasty broken ankle and missed two whole seasons through injury. Hearst came back with impressive numbers in his first season, though they declined soon after, with a chunk of his career missing.
