3. Super Bomberman R

Bomberman used to be all the rage. In the 16-bit/32-bit eras the simplistic game of bomb laying inside destructible maze-like arenas proved to be rather irresistible. After a period away from the limelight, Bomberman is coming back with Super Bomberman R - and it’s one of the most interesting games available for Nintendo Switch on day one.

Super Bomberman R includes a story mode that spans 50 stages, and supports cooperative play with a friend, but the real draw of any Bomberman game is its multiplayer mode. Playable with up to eight players, either locally or online, this is where most people will spend the bulk of their time.

As with other Nintendo Switch releases, the Joy-Con controller can be split into two allowing two players to compete without the need to purchase an additional controller. That’s pretty neat, giving every Switch owner the ability to play with a friend.
