10 Notoriously Difficult Levels In Video Games
3. The Water Temple - Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
The Water Temple is infamous amongst gamers and even those who haven't even touched Nintendo's games. Yet, while newer iterations and remakes of the game have remedied many of the frustratingly difficult aspects, the original still has that notorious air about it (despite being simple when you've played it a few times).
First, there is the incredibly important and very easily overlooked key upon which the level practically rests. If you miss it, you have to reset the water itself which takes forever. The constant inventory hopping to equip and un-equip the Iron boots was tedious, and the speed at which Link moved beneath the water was enough to encourage a fit of rage.
Not to mention the constant water level adjustments that took a long time and required an expert knowledge of the switches' layout to complete in a reasonable amount of time. In all honesty, the level was more tedious that difficult, but gaming has decided to remember it as infamously difficult, thus finding its place here.
