10 Obscure RPGs You NEED To Play
1. GreedFall
Developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive for the eighth and ninth generation of consoles, GreedFall is an all out action RPG game set in a rich and vibrant fantasy seventeenth century world.
The game's story revolves around a man named De Sardet, a noble that players take control of as he lands on the recently discovered tropical island of Teer Fradee, a land of paradise that human settlers are attempting to colonise. The island is also home to various natives, and the way in which players deal with the various factions around the world will determine the story they tell and the interactions they have.
The game certainly didn't boast the budget of other RPG titles of its time, but the love and passion put in by Spiders more than makes up for it and the GreedFall looks and runs seriously impressively throughout. The game was nominated for Best RPG at the Titanium Awards in 2019, the best original roleplaying game at the NAVGTR Awards, and for the best game setting and best artistic game design at the Pégases Awards in 2020.
Despite all of this however, the game has only sold just over a million hard copies or so as of the end of 2020 and is still outside plenty of gamers' radars.
