10 Obscure Video Game Movie Tie-Ins You Had No Idea Existed
3. Land Of The Dead: Road To Fiddler's Green
George Romero made a belated return to the zombie genre in 2005 with Land Of The Dead, and while it was far from a masterpiece it at least carried his distinctive fingerprints on it. A zombie game based on a George Romero movie was a no-brainer, so a tie-in prequel to the movie was developed for the X-Box and PC.
Despite having some interesting ideas in it, like a level set in a corn field where visibility is poor and zombies are crawling everywhere, Road To Fiddler’s Green is a sloppy mess of a game. The graphics would have been badly dated five years before it came out, the hit detection – where it can take a number of headshots to fell, one zombie – is a joke and the audio sounds like it was recorded in a dustbin.
It’s possibly one of the most joyless first person shooters ever developed and is only remembered now as a curious footnote in the history of Romero’s Dead series.
