10 Impossible Video Game Puzzles That Drove Us Insane

2. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire - The Braille Puzzle

The charm of Pokemon games is in the no-nonsense goal that they set out for the player - catch cute, colourful creatures and pit them against those of rivals. The series rarely messed around with unnecessary complexities like puzzles, until Sapphire and Ruby came along in 2002 and ruined everything. Braille is obviously a wonderful thing in life, but that doesn't mean I want to learn it while playing Pokemon - or, for that matter, while my visual senses are still intact. Yet Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire forces it on you, as in order to track down certain legendary Pokemon you€™re required to find three caves filled with Braille for you to decode. Essentially, you have to jot down the whole Braille alphabet and cross-reference it with the barely legible little dots in the caves. Of all the alphabets they could€™ve chosen for you to decode, why did they go for one that€™s not even designed for people to look at? Accessing each of the dreaded Braille caves is equally tedious, as you need to carry out banal missions like literally not doing anything for two minutes.
