The Leisure Suit Larry games walk a very fine line ideologically. They are frequently called out for being sexist due to their depictions of women as nothing more than objects to satiate lust, as protagonist Larry goes about trying to get laid, and these critics aren't really wrong. Similarly, though, their depictions of the male aren't a whole lot better: Larry is a rather unattractive middle-aged man driven seemingly by his sole desire to have sex, and is without question extremely sleazy and even a little creepy. It's arguable that the game's somewhat satirical bent excuses it from being truly sexist, and the developers themselves have admitted that though the game may appear sexist, it is actually advising against Larry's approach to women, given how often his attempts fail. Still, it makes men look pretty awful on the whole, all the more so given that there are so many of these games.
