Blizzard's World of Warcraft has been around for so long, and been so culturally influential during its time with the mainstream, that's it's hard to imagine a world where the game isn't a household reference.

Released in November 2004 as the fourth entry in the Warcraft franchise and its first venture into the world of massive online multiplayer games, World of Warcraft has gone through eight high profile expansions, established a lore and history that has made its way into plenty of other games and franchises and established itself as the most impactful MMORPG ever made.

In 2009, five years after the game's initial release, World of Warcraft hit ten million players, by 2019 that number had reached 12 million and Blizzard confirmed in February 2020 that the game's subscriber base had doubled further following the release of World of Warcraft Classic.

However all of these dungeons or expansions would have either never happened, or would have been far less meaningful if it weren't for the millions of gamers around the world logging in and raiding away with their friends evening after evening over the years.
