With a 99% score on Metacritic at the time of writing, it's safe to say The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time hasn't lost its iconic status over the years. Being released back in November 1998 for the Nintendo 64 alongside fellow legendary titles Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64, the game once again follows the player-controlled Link as he navigates through Hyrule via time travel, puzzle solving and finicky ocarina playing.

In all, around 7.6 million copies of the game with 1.14 of those coming from Japan. Big numbers for a game from the 90s.

However, even twenty years on from its initial release, Ocarina of Time is still alive and kicking thanks to a hardcore community of fans. Not only has the game received two re-releases for the GameCube and Nintendo 3DS, both of which featured a whole new harder version of the game named Master Quest, but the birth of streaming and speedrunning has helped keep interest in the game sky high.

Ocarina of Time is one of the most popular speedrunning games out there, boasting a ridiculously stacked leaderboard and pulling in dozens of streamers on the likes of Twitch that fellow fans will watch religiously. Ocarina of Time is also reeled out at big gaming conventions and events, showcasing there's plenty of enjoyment left in this Nintendo classic.
