Put simply, Nintendo and creator Shigeru Miyamoto ab-so-lutely nailed their first attempt at a 2D platformer. Technical limitations forced the developers to think about the positioning of every last pixel, but in turn, everything from the enemy design to the feel of controlling Mario is quite literally pixel-perfect.

The music too, would go on to be one of the most recognisable themes of all time, whilst you'd spot a 'Mario jump sound effect' from a mile off. Every last aspect of Super Mario Bros. was designed with passion, purpose, intent and quality - resulting in one of the most timeless video games of all time, and one that despite being over 30 years old, hasn't aged a day.
