10 Other Fighting Games That Should Feature Wrestlers In Their Rosters
2. Virtua Fighter
A series initially made to show Sega's investment in new technology as well as the power of the Saturn, has evolved into one of the most technical fighting games ever. Button mashing is a strategy not even welcomed by the game, much less its community. The series dipped its toe into wrestling style fights, introducing the luchador El Blaze to the bout, but since its fifth release, the franchise has been dormant.
Perhaps using the next generation tech and a few guests from the world of pro wrestling could be all the series needs to get back on its feet. With the Virtua Fighter's reputation for realistic fighting styles, wrestlers with a more technical style would compliment the roster well, whether that's with Shinsuke Nakamura's MMA prowess, or Kurt Angle's Olympic-level prowess.
Not keeping things restricted to WWE, NJPW has a roster of fine fighters to balance things out. The Submission Master Zack Sabre Jr. could chip away at health bars the way he does at limbs, or Minoru Suzuki could dawn his Pancrase kick-pads and return to his old arsenal of kicks, takedowns, and locks.
No matter which talent pool that Sega would want to draw from, they have plenty of combatants who would be able to add some much needed excitement to franchise due for a revitilization.
