10 Outrageously Inventive Video Game Weapons

6. Suction Cup Dart Gun – BattleBlock Theater

Battleblock Theatre Dart
The Behemoth

BattleBlock Theater is one of the barmiest games to have ever exploded onto our screens. Imprisoned in an abandoned theatre run by adorable kitties, you must perform death-defying platforming stunts and master an absurd arsenal of weaponry.

There’s a paper plane that detonates on landing, a vacuum cleaner that sucks up projectiles, and a dapper frog with a hat and cane that dashes dashingly towards enemies before erupting spectacularly. Brilliant.

But this toybox of torture has one standout plaything: a cap-gun that fires out a foam dart with a suction cup on the end. Sure, it’s not as funny as the frog grenade (nothing is as funny as the frog grenade) but what makes the suction cup dart gun such an entertaining weapon is its dual purpose.

Not only can you launch it at enemies (or friends) to knock them over, but firing at a nearby wall will cause the suction cup dart to stick to the surface, creating a makeshift platform which can be used to clamber up to new areas or get the drop on enemies. Let’s hope this piece of nefarious nostalgia doesn’t get nerfed anytime soon.

Nobody's convinced... but nobody's told him that yet. He spends his spare time working on Portal 2: Desolation, an ambitious fan-made sequel to Valve's beloved puzzle games.
