Yes, the digital embodiment of nerd-rage himself, Kratos' story and overall 'personality' have never felt particularly well done, even though he's starred in six full-retail titles, all as nonsensical as the last. Literally just one big cypher for unbridled rage - which we suppose is fine if you can set it up right, just look at Asura's Wrath - did any of us really sympathise with a man who accidentally kills his own family? Being one of the flagship characters for Sony's gaming division alongside...erm... Knack? A Helghast trooper? Kratos is a man who got so carried away dispatching people at the command of Ares, that his bloodlust made him forget his own house, and the people inside. It's hilariously bad, and then it's just bad. He then gets royally perturbed at how the "Gods have betrayed him", and spends every subsequent game acting like an eight year-old who's been told they can't have dessert. Even after attaining God status it's not enough as he continues to throw all manner of tantrums, going out of his way to cause as much of a ruckus as possible after being told he should probably stop abusing his power and ripping the heads off everything. By the time part three had come around and we were doing everything from sleeping with a character's lost love before slaughtering them and driving slabs of stone through a chained-up creature's head, everything just became totally ludicrous.
