10 Perfect Gaming Remakes That Easily Beat The Originals

2. Resident Evil

As we saw earlier with Metal Gear Solid, the shiny, new Gamecube became somewhat of a home for remakes of PlayStation classics. The remake of the original Resident Evil on the console (affectionately named the REmake) is another fine example of how to update a game to modern standards successfully; it's considered the definitive version of the original title. The whole game received a massive design overhaul (thanks in part to Nintendo working with Capcom on Resident Evil Zero for the GameCube), immediately separating it from its PlayStation counterpart. That might seem 'shallow' (for want of a better word) but this also allowed for better shadows, lighting and textures in the game, creating a better atmosphere for everyone's favourite haunted mansion. Not a lot was added to the story or gameplay features of the game (the 180 spin made life a lot easier though) but the REmake did introduce one of the most terrifying enemies in Resident Evil history: the Crimson Heads. Upon returning to the mansion later in the game, every zombie you didn't burn or decapitate earlier becomes a Crimson Head; faster and far deadlier than their early game versions. They're genuinely one of the scariest enemies in gaming. The only blight against the game is that it changed the original voice acting; unfortunately, the classic "Master of unlocking" line didn't make the cut. No matter though, Jill will always be the Master of Unlocking in our hearts.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
