10 Perfectly Crafted Video Games That Never Need Sequels

1. The Last Of Us

As Naughty Dog begins working with Hollywood big wigs to bring The Last of Us to the big screen, talk about a sequel to their 2013 apocalypse opus seems to be gaining some steam. But while that may be fine for the folks at Sony and Naughty Dog who want to be even richer, the idea of revisiting the world of Joel and Ellie is a bit distressing. The Last of Us went out of its way to tell a story that was set in the midst of the apocalypse, but was rarely about the monsters that inhabited the world. Instead, it was a character driven masterpiece that drove home all of the Naughty Dog game design principles; rich storytelling, believable characters and polished game play. So few games put as much care or attention to detail in their worlds as The Last of Us, creating refined characters that took you on a harrowing journey of survival and the struggles of raising a child in a brutal world. The Last of Us 2 is the most unnecessary sequel of all time, as Joel and Ellie had a complete character journey that ended with the clear implications of what is waiting for them. Though they exist beside each other now in a father/daughter relationship, there are obvious struggles ahead for them. The Last of Us told a purely perfect story over the course of its single-player campaign, so rehashing the characters for a sequel doesn't really accomplish much. But now it's up to you. What game was so perfect, that it simply doesn't need another entry? Sound off in the comments and let us know what game you never want to see a sequel for.
