10 Places Assassin's Creed Could Go After Valhalla

1. The Aztec Empire

The fact that this hasn't been done yet defies belief. The era of the Aztec Empire is so full of Assassin's Creed potential that it's practically bursting at the seams. With the success of recent games, though, now might be the perfect time for a journey to Central America.

The Maya Empire was on the brink of collapse by the time the Spanish arrived, but the Aztecs -- the Maya's neighbors to the north -- were thriving. Their capital city, Tenochtitlan, was a marvel to behold, built on an island in Lake Texcoco. Given how close the Maya and the Aztecs were in proximity, the map could include Maya sites, as well.

The Aztecs had a variety of weapons, including spears, blowguns, axes, clubs, and the particularly gnarly macuahuitl, an obsidian-lined paddle capable of cutting a horse's head off. What I'm saying is, you've got a variety of weapons, which lend themselves to fighting different classes of opponents.

The Aztecs also had two special classes of elite warriors. One was the Jaguar, and the other was the Eagle. We all know how Assassin's Creed likes its birds. To see an Aztec Eagle assassin going head-to-head with the Spanish as his/her civilization crumbles would not only be badass -- it'd be quite poignant, too.
