10 Plot Twists That Change How You See Video Games

8. Undertale - Omega Flowey

The first character you meet in indie darling Undertale is a little flower by the name of Flowey. He seems pretty harmless... until he tries to kill you. If you think that's disturbing, wait until you see what he really looks like.

Just as you're about to make peace with King Asgore at the apparent climax of the game, Flowey comes out of nowhere and kills him, then mocks you for trying to save him... and then the game crashes. You've been booted back to your desktop. What!?

When you start the game again, the intro cinematic glitches out and your save file has been replaced with one that reads "Flowey: My World", making Flowey the only video game boss to perfectly recapture the nostalgic frustration of having your little brother erase your save file.

Upon loading the file, Flowey himself appears and vows to destroy you. Then, he transforms into a horrific behemoth composed of numerous semi-realistic images photo-bashed together.

It's the stuff of nightmares, and it completely breaks the game's art style in the best possible way. Not only that, but every time you die while fighting Flowey, he laughs at you mockingly and then crashes your game again, forcing you to restart the fight. Ouch.

Turns out this cute retro RPG isn't as wholesome as it seemed, and if you thought you were in control of your save file, you were very much mistaken.
