There are multiple Pokémon inspired by Egyptian gods, including Yamasks. Yamasks are a pretty depressing group of monsters. With tendrils toting a human face mask that randomly cries, the Spirit Pokémon wanders ruins of ancient civilizations.

Many cultures practice making death masks, but according to its Pokédex entry, the Yamask rose from the grave, and the faces they're toting around are from former humans. If that seems super creepy, you'll shudder at the real inspiration. Ancient Egyptians believed the soul was composed of a bunch of different parts. Based on the Egyptian God ba, Yamask mirrors its appearance, as ba is often represented as a bird with a man-head hovering over mummies.

Yamask's first evolution, Cofagrigus, is another nod to the Ancient Egyptians. They hit the nail pretty hard on the head with this Ghost-type Pokémon, as it is obviously based on a sarcophagus. Even its name is a dead giveaway, as "Cofagrigus" is a combination of "coffin," "sarcophagus," and "egregious." With menacing, glowing eyes and white fangs creating a creepy smile, Cofagrigus is said to eat nearby humans.
