10 Pokémon Who Deserve Mega Evolutions

2. Bellossom

Bellossom is just a Pokémon who really hasn’t aged well. It was originally introduced in Gen II as an alternative evolution for Gloom, allowing it to shed the vulnerable Poison type against Psychic. Since Psychic had its nerf though, Bellossom has been consigned to history.

It didn’t help that in Gold & Silver, post game was the only time to get a Grass Stone, so it wasn’t even that useful in the Generation it was introduced in. The design, while competent, does it no favours either.

Vileplume may be a flower, but its bulk always gave it quite a gender neutral design, especially evolving from such a popular creature as little Oddish. Bellossom leans harder into femininity, which alienates some players anyway, but even with some wanting that look it has not been a very smart move in hindsight.

The introduction of Fairy type has brought some softer designs which allow players to build a team perfect for them, not to mention Gardevoir and Lopunny do what Bellossom does but better, and they have Megas to boot.

It just loses out to a handful of ‘mons in every category, and could do with a boost sometime soon.
