10 Popular Video Game Series' That Completely Forgot Who They Were
10. Star Fox
Sadly nowadays Star Fox is probably better known for being one of the better (read - cheaper) characters in Smash Bros. While characters like Mario and Link are still off on adventures, Fox has been taking it easy recently in preparation for his big return on the Wii U next year. It seems that with Star Fox Wii U, we'll finally be seeing a true console follow-up to Star Fox 64 (also known as Lylat Wars in Europe and Australia). The original Star Fox is still considered a vital game in Nintendo's history; it was the first Nintendo game to use 3D polygons, at a time where 2D was still all the rage. Star Fox 64 really set Fox up to be one of Nintendo's biggest heroes though; it was basically the best unofficial X-Wing game around. In a word, awesome. Barrel-rolling, ducking and diving through Star Fox 3D is still a non-stop thrill-ride; for a linear, on-rail experience, it provides an immense sense of adventure. It all went a bit weird with Fox though. Having made his name with a series of adventures in space, Rare followed up the seminal Star Fox 64 with Star Fox Adventures; a pretty but bizarre turn for the series. Taking on a Zelda-like gameplay twist, Fox left the cockpit for the first time to explore the remote Dinosaur Island. Using an upgradable staff in place of his signature blaster, Fox's first Gamecube adventure is almost unrecognisable compared to earlier games. Despite Star Fox Adventures generally receiving good reviews, most fans will welcome a return to the spaceship battles of old.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
