10 Potential FIFA 18 Player Career Mode Improvements
9. Contract Negotiations
This actually used to be in the game and for some unknown reason FIFA took it out. When you sign for a team now, you essentially sign for eternity. You are offered a wage befitting your current overall ability, and if you decide to stay there, you'll be paid that wage till the apocalypse. Or till you retire. Or die. Whatever comes first.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could actually negotiate your contract? Maybe you want the extra money to sign for a certain club. Maybe you're happy to be lowballed to allow your club to sign better players. It's not real money after all. The club has just offered you a five year deal, but the idea of being able to waltz off for nothing three years down the line is more appealing? Then negotiate them down. If you're underpaid two years in, maybe it's time to tell the board to pay you what you're worth or you want a transfer? It's a simple addition, with plenty of scenarios.
Either way, if you want a transfer in this game, you're gonna need to ask to go on the transfer list. That's fine, but doesn't follow completely how real football actually works. Especially when you can see your team signing and losing players on a free, it makes no sense that you are exempt.
And as a little bonus, what players are paid just a basic wage these days? Bonuses and clauses should be a choice too.
